Marine Service Technician

Chester, MD

The Pocket Yacht Company is now seeking a full-time Marine Service Technician to join our growing team. This qualified individual must be able to problem-solve, work well in a team environment, and be efficient to achieve high customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include:
  • Service boats to a high standard.
  • Properly diagnose and repair boats brought in for warranty or service.
  • Able to perform routine service inspections on inboard and outboard engines.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install electronics in boats.
  • Ability to winterize boats.
  • Work under the direction of the Service Manager to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of marine technology. Has or is willing to acquire Yamaha, Volvo Penta, and ABYC certification.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and in good working condition and maintain a clean workplace.
  • Ability to transport trailers and boats to satellite offices.
  • Experience with Fiberglass and Gelcoat repairs is a plus.
Requirements:
  • Work well in a team environment with a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of boats, marine engines, repairs, and maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. A college or trade school degree preferred
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Ability to communicate at a high level, both verbally and in writing
  • Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and process-driven
  • Have a valid state driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background/drug screening
  • Prior experience in the marine industry is preferred.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Master Marine Service Technician

The Pocket Yacht Company is now seeking a full-time Master Marine Service Technician to join our growing team. This qualified individual must be able to problem-solve, work well in a team environment, and be efficient to achieve high customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include:
  • Advanced proficiency in engine repair, electrical systems, and electronics.
  • Work with Service Manager to diagnose and repair difficult-to-solve issues.
  • Properly diagnose and repair boats brought in for warranty or service.
  • Able to perform routine service inspections on inboard and outboard engines.
  • Ability to winterize boats.
  • Work under the direction of the Service Manager to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of marine technology. Has or is willing to acquire Yamaha and Volvo Penta certification.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and in good working condition and maintain a clean workplace.
  • Ability to transport trailers and boats to satellite offices.
  • Experience with Fiberglass and Gelcoat repairs is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate has the ability to lead and train junior technicians.
  • Desire to continue education with vendors.
  • Field customer calls and assist in troubleshooting issues over the phone.

Yard Foreman

Chester, MD

The Yard Foreman is primarily responsible for launching and hauling boats, organizing the display/arrangement of boats on the dealership premises, and boat transportation to and from other locations. Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Manages the safe and efficient moving of boats in and on the dealership property, including hauling, launching, and docking
  • Coordinates transportation of boats, trailers, and motors to and from off-site locations including customer locations, boat shows, etc.
  • Coordinates/maintains the yard storage needs: stands, blocks, covers, etc.
  • Coordinates/schedules maintenance on yard trucks, trailers, and forklifts and maintains service records
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Boating/trailering experience and prior marine dealership experience helpful, CDL preferred
  • Professional appearance
  • Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and process-driven
  • Have a valid state driver’s license and current DOT physical record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background/drug screen
